Locker room reflections *2/2011*

Gerald and I have really gotten into the swing of things as far as getting our workouts-on! Despite juggling work, sick kids, rough days, and keeping up with all our other obligations, it is apparent that he and I are in this for the long haul. Month one is in the bag and here we are, month two in full swing!

This Sunday will be our first long run together and we will progressively increase our mileage each week.

Have a charmed & blessed weekend all!!

Fun two miler completed outdoors today. I've been using an app called Run Keeper to track my runs. Training has officially started for the half marathon that Leilani, myself, and Helen signed up for. Woo hoo! 13.1 miles here we come ( not now, on June 5, 2011.)

I had a sluggish work out at the gym today. I was feeling under the weather, so I kept it simple by working out bi's and tri's. I did a combo of lifting free weights and cable machines. I skipped out on running on the treadmill. I'll get the wheels rolling in a few weeks. Now time to rest up.

Easy walk on the treadmill this morning. I'm being careful not to over train and today's workout was meant to stretch my muscles and have a light cardio workout :)

Fresh air and being out in the open is awesome! Weather permitting, I will do my jogs outdoors from now on because this is how it is supposed to feel: natural & liberating! Here's to a great week! =)

Saturday workout session was @ Chabot Track & Field. Noy and I attended J.Cherry's conditioning boot camp. The weather was nice somewhere in the 70's. The workout was good with various drills.

6.87 miles done today. 3.15 jogged and 3.72 walked. The jog was around Lake Elizabeth and the walk was from Lake Elizabeth to Jamba Juice and back. Felt runner's high at 2.8 miles. This is an amazing feeling. For me all discomfort goes away and I simultaneously feel like flying and air guitaring. It's total bliss I tell ya!

Got my workout on at Bally's! I ran 1.05 mi. with a total of 17 mi up to date. I also worked out shoulders and delts. I was planning to workout legs, but had a change of mind. I'll put off legs for tomorrow bwahahahah!

First workout of the month for me post flu recovery was a walk in the park, literally. Crisp, cool air, and the element of being outdoors was much needed. Really enjoyed it!

Pull your weight son! I ran 1 mile on the treadmill and worked out biceps and triceps. Normally, I run at a fast pace for 1 mile distance, but I was too sore from Monday's workout. So far Mil and I have been consistent with our workouts. We both started back in late December and have been religiously working up to date. Team DePerio is going to rock it for the 11'!

Another Monday, Mick's MMA fitness session in the bag to kick-off the week.Noy and I had a great workout. Mick's class was a good mix of cardio, kick boxing, abs and various stretching. The class was fast paced with minimal breaks for water. I also brought in an fast riddim reggae mix to smash through our workout.

Really glad I ended up at Bally's tonight instead of 24 cuz I ran into Helen. We killed two birds with one stone: chatted & got our sweat on. Hooray to good cardio workouts with good friends =)

Ready for blast off! I laced up the Nike+ lunar glides and took it for a morning spin. Today Noy and I did cardio and worked on abs. I'm proud of Noy for opting to run instead of a light elliptical workout. To top out his work out he ran for 2+ mi.

While jogging today I replayed a scene in my late teens as the girly, non-athletic chic who was the second girl to complete our p.e. class's timed mile run. I finished under 8 minutes and for me that was a HUGE deal. I even beat a good number of boys..heehee. Hair flowing, music on point, body and mind in sync, I felt amazing and nongrandma-ish today. For a moment I remembered the sweet taste of my youth. Even if I have a runny nose, sleep deprived (again), I can say I'm officially hooked (again)! Yah-Yuh baby!

Rise up! The sun is hiding behind the clouds, but I'm out to shine. I had a good chest workout with Noy at Planet Fitness in the Haystack. It's been awhile since I've been to Planet Fitness. The gym has been renovated for the better. I'm glad to keep my membership, it's worth the $10 a month.
