Wonder Women

Sometimes you need a woman living her truest and most authentic self to light the way.

Whatever invisible and visible societal, familial, and personal restraints we are carrying, when we (women) have each other’s back, we cannot be shackled.

We do not shy away from owning our dirty laundry.

We clean it up, just like we do everything else.

The poem below is an ode to all the Wonder Women I know and love. And if I haven’t met you and the poem below resonates with you, then I love you too.

Have a Charmed & Blessed weekend friends,

Millie

What is a Wonder Woman?

She does not blow away in the wind even if her hair does.

She doest not crumble, succumb to sorrow, even when everyone else around her does.

She plants good seeds and tends to those seedlings daily.

She brings forth whatever the seedlings need so that they grow, blossom, and thrive.

She grows more luminescent with time.

That is a Wonder Woman to me.

Our Papa

Yesterday we observed a very sad day in the Dizon Family. Two years and one day ago we lost our beloved Papa. The patriarch of our family looked after everyone he cared for. I counted around 100+ he personally tended to between his siblings + his children + his grand children + his nephews + his nieces + his in laws + his in law's families.

Our Papa even had business associates he personally mentored, became good friends with, and served as that missing, loving, paternal figure in their life. Remembering how each and everyone he cared for spoke of my papa brings tears to my eyes.

What I loved the most about him was his competency and compassion as a leader. He was competent in his ability to get things done WITH others and THROUGH others. He was also compassionate in that despite the color of a person's skin, what the person believed in or not, he knew how to properly and articulately communicate with anyone. Wisdom poured out of him because he was a wise man.

Despite his humanity and imperfections, he used his Big Personality, Big Heart, and Big Intellect to guide all he loved both individually and collectively.

I love, respect, and miss you forever Papa.

Love,

Your adopted daughter

Millie the Poet

I am here to say:

Fly, Baby, Fly

The fears, tears, and heaviness disappears

For you’ve always had them

Those iridescent things called wings

So, do it, Child

Your time has come to

Fly, Baby, FLY !
