Decadent Datenights

Hey guys, listen up. Go get a babysitter. Dogsitter. Take the night off. Whatever you need to do to make a reservation (real quick) at Delage in Oakland, California.

I have a feeling that this legitely-poppin’ Michelin recommended establishment will earn its very first Michelin star real soon. You'll want to be there before they do that because their $65/person price tag will go up for sure! This is a real bargain in the Omakase realm in my humble opinion.

Anyhoo, I am sooo glad we did not follow through with our original reservation elsewhere and went with this quaint, Omakase-fusion, dining experience.

this was the 3 oz toro steak. fatty tuna belly lightly seared and sliced into 3 slices garnished w/ black truffle paste, garlic chips, and ponzu A++. mmmm.....fat girl kid kinda good

**You know you are in good hands when you feel like you’re being teleported somewhere really cool where all your senses are positively triggered. Hollaa!!!**

We looooovvvvved our dining experience so much I completely nerded out and busted out my mini notebook and started taking notes like I was in school.

Our gracious attendant Kara found my geeking out endearing and said I could take home the pretty Card stock menus for my Scrapbook & Blog. SCORE!!!

Speaking of the attendants here Kara & Jasmine were absolute sweetie pies and were really adorable in their urban, sleek, and trendy get ups. They had these super cute low waisted, high quality, Japanese-denim aprons that they paired with black leggings, mid-length boots, black fitted tops, and hair-do’s in high buns. They reminded me of graciously flitting ballerinas knowledgeable in every course they presented to us including the cute little doodads on every dish.

**no photos here. i didn't want to be weird and take photos of the ballerinas**

Here’s a breakdown of the Omakase (chef’s choice) 8-course tasting menu we had with photos, description, and our rating of each culinary experience:

kabocha salad- kale, quinoa, ume-orange dressing A+

chef's choice sashimi w/ ponzu (akami, kinme/tai, anago, &toro don). A++

**no picture of #3 ** we were too busy sampling the sake. we sampled all the tiers and started w/ the junmai. stick w/ the junmai cuz everything else tasted like nail polish remover. your taste buds won't lie.

this was one of my faves. it took the hummus & chips experience to a whole 'notha level. that black stuff is fermented rice and the bubbly looking thing is the chip you dip in the black stuff. the pomegranate beans and doodads in the middle made a flavor explosion in your mouth. this course was pure MAGIC

oh my snap, i don't like duck but i looooveed this DUCK! sashimi grade duck if there ever was one. man this was good. i'd eat duck everyday if it tasted like this. A++

this was hella lit. sequence is important here. you eat this from from left to right. A++ that black stuff on top of the white sushi tasted like an upgraded salt. i want that in my kitchen cupboard.

this was really underwhelming. they shoulda put soma' that black nori salty thing in here. it was hella bland even if the ingredients were super fresh B+

duuuuuude. i dont mind gaining 5 pounds with this dessert. they made a green tea custard with fresh cream and fruit for dessert. kara hooked it up with the bubbly for anniversary too. she's really pretty btw
